Art Chinese, run by Jimmy Lek (from Singapore- where my dad is from) and Stella (from Malaysia, where my mum is from) are having two open weekend events in October.

Oops, in the rush of coming back to the UK I forgot to say I’m in a group printmaking show at the top of Brick Lane, in a lovely little gallery called the Jago. If you get the chance please come by to see the work, there are 15 of us.

My students at Sitka (including Rosie the wildwoman)

wanted to know if they could buy Japanese vinyl in the US. I’ve found this link from a super friendly company that sent me some inks directly to Oregon in less than a week: its all in Japanese but the plates are only 52 yen and up (thats about 50 cents…)

One last party before I leave the fun fun city of POrtland… It’s been such a nice trip. Right now I am appreciating the hospitality and nature on the Oregon Coast where I am teaching for another few days. It’s going to be hard going back to stinky London…!

The show Beautiful Beast opened in Vancouver on Friday 11th July. There were lots of Asian artists, Chinese and Japanese speakers and art critics, some delicious cakes and sushi. cheese and wine, and general entertaining conversation. It was lots of fun.

From left to right- Tamla, Akemi, Juliane, and me- and we were ALL wearing high heels!

These following pictures are of the mask prints in the Vorpal Space gallery in Portland, taken during the day. Its a real contrast from the glossy Vancouver gallery, and the people who come by are more likely to have multiple body modifications/ torso tattoos/ duct tape and attitude.

 prints in his latest curated show in Seattle. It opens tomorrow evening.

Hey- Show season has kicked off with a private view at Foyles bookshop tonight! IT was well attended and lots of fun to meet other artists with a Chinese connection. This invite is to a show of artist books in Edinburgh which I am part of, so there’s another venue to check out if you are up that way.
